Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach
Description
Seton LaSalle is currently seeking a Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach. This is a part-time position. As Varsity Head Cheerleading Coach, you will provide cheer coaching while developing lifelong relationships and mentoring young girls. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe environment for the team, which includes teaching and closely monitoring their safety. Seton LaSalle expects an ideal candidate to encourage the team to be understanding of and patient with each other.
Key responsibilities include:
-Training cheerleaders
-Choosing new members
-Creating choreographed dances/cheers
-Organizing practice sessions
-Monitoring each cheerleader
-Teaching, recommending and enforcing safe techniques
-Instruct students on healthy stretching, lifting and jumping
-Supervising warm-ups
-Teaching routines
-Consulting with teachers to ensure students keep up with their grades while participating on the cheer squad
-Addressing behavioral and learning issues with parents appropriately
-Effectively communicating with a diverse group of athletes, coaches and game officials
-Must be able to select age-appropriate cheer or dance routines
-Must be able to create performances that involve the entire team
-Must be able to facilitate travel to away games and off-campus competitions
-Cheer during football and basketball games
-Must maintain communication with teachers and parents
Required experience and skills:
-Cheerleading or dance experience
-Coaching, teaching or training experience
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Self-motivated
-Creative
-Ability to provide constructive criticism
-Administrative skills
-Organizational skills
-Safety awareness
-Flexible work schedule
Candidate must be able to accommodate athletic competitions, games and after-school practices
