Scholarships

Seton LaSalle Catholic High School has been blessed throughout the years to have several generous benefactors who have endowed scholarships based on specific criteria.  These scholarships can help offset the cost of a private Catholic education.  See below for the various scholarships' applications available to all Seton LaSalle students.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FRESHMEN

The following scholarships are renewable each of the years the student attends Seton LaSalle, provided the student maintains the academic requirements and exhibits the positive attributes of a Seton LaSalle student as outlined in the Seton LaSalle Handbook.

SETON LASALLE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Seton LaSalle offers academic scholarships to high-achieving students who took the placement test at Seton LaSalle and received a composite score in the 85th percentile or higher. Merrick Scholarship.  A student is welcome to apply to both scholarships, but if he/she is selected as a J.L. Merrick Recipient or Honorable Mention, the family would choose which scholarship they wish to retain.

MICHAEL J. RILEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior based on an application and an essay describing how participating in Seton LaSalle athletics is preparing them to be a successful leader in the future.

Michael J Riley '68, equally tough and compassionate, was respected as a true leader in sports, in business, and in life. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Miami where he played both football and baseball. Upon graduation, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs and World Football League Philadelphia Bells.

When his playing days ended, Mike applied the same grit, tenacity, and passion he had as a sportsman to business. He founded All Pro Painters and over thirty years grew it into one of the premier residential and commercial painting companies in Western Pennsylvania.

Mike always attributed his successes on and off the field to the values he learned while attending South Catholic. As a fitting honor, his family established the Michael J. Riley Memorial Scholarship, a yearly tuition grant given to student athletes.
